The Institute for Professional Studies in the College of Professional Schools at Avila University in Kansas City, Missouri, is seeking adjunct instructors to teach undergraduate and graduate courses or facilitate workshops in fields of: Management, Organizational Development, Leadership Coaching, Healthcare Management, Diversity and Inclusion, Instructional Design, Human Resources, Leadership, and Change Management.

Position Title: Clinical Adjunct Nursing Instructors – School of Nursing
Position Available: The School of Nursing at Avila University invites applications for adjunct clinical instructor positions for various placements.
Appointment Date: Spring, Summer, and Fall semesters
Responsibilities:
Clinical adjunct instructors that could include the following placements (in-patient environment only):
- Critical Care – (spring only)
- Medical Surgical/Telemetry (fall and spring)
- Mental Health (spring only)
- Pediatrics (Peds)- (fall only)
- Obstetrics (OB) – (fall only)
The placements are on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays. A Friday option may be available for the Critical Care placement (spring only).

- Master’s degree in nursing

Position Available | Visiting Assistant Professor in Theatre Design and Technology |

Responsibilities | Temporary full time position from August 15, 2022 – June 30, 2023 with the possibility of an extension.
Teach 6 credit hours in both fall and spring semesters. Design and assist/oversee student designs and build of 2 mainstage productions per semester. Serves as Technical Director in the day-to-day operations of the Scenic/Props, Electrical, and Sound for Goppert Performing Arts Center. Will ensure superior production values, safety, and smooth technical operations in all venues. Maintain all logistical elements of operating and maintaining Goppert Performing Arts Center, including the mainstage, black box, and music hall, and smaller rehearsal spaces. This includes maintaining a budget and maintenance of all equipment in the theatres and scene shops and overseeing external rental of the PAC spaces. Supervise students and student employees including applying and enforcing safe working practices. Effectively mentor, supervise, and coordinate the work of students and others. Serve as Technical Supervisor and client liaison for PAC shows, events, work calls and rehearsals as assigned. Responsible for backstage safety, communicate with Front of House personnel, communicate with outside crews, maintain and protect house equipment, and enforce house rules. Support client production staff members by providing access to and specialized knowledge of equipment and facilities and keeping PAC equipment operating efficiently. Ensure rigging system inspections, automation system upkeep and upgrades, and safety systems. Communicate well with others and maintain confidentiality. |

This position will have primary responsibility for the support of Mac computer labs and the Mac Server. Responsibilities | 1.Demonstrate a student-centered philosophy in support of student success.
2.Work collaboratively with Center for Student Excellence (CSE) staff to implement persistence strategies targeted to meet the needs of Avila’s at-risk student groups. 3.Conduct regular student success meetings with students, as referred by the academic probation committee, utilizing progress reports, mid-term grades, and/or student probation records. 4.Provide academic support as requested via referrals from the Care Team and/or faculty and staff. 5.Work within Avila’s Early Alert system to identify struggling students, working with identified students to overcome obstacles in order to remain in school. 6.Collect data related to students served, the issues they face, services offered, or referrals made through personal data collected as well as Retention Management systems. 7.Work with students to ensure a successful fall/spring registration process. 8.Educate/conduct workshops/outreach for campus community as it relates to meeting the unique needs of at-risk students. 9.Identify and implement best practices for working with at-risk student groups. 10.Monitor potential barriers to student success and recommend modifications to processes, policies, and systems impacting student success. 11.Develop and coordinate transition orientation program(s) for transfer students with mentors. |
Qualifications | Bachelor’s degree, 1-2 years’ experience, awareness of best practices in working with at-risk student groups.
Preferred qualifications – Master’s Degree in related field and member of at-risk student group preferred. |
