Request ILL Articles Here.
Before using the form below, please make sure that the requested article is not available in one of our many databases by checking Search Everything and Publication Finder.
Search for Instant Article Access (DOI/PMID Only)
If you know your article’s Digital Object Identifier (DOI) or PubMed ID (PMID), you can instead instantly check our collection using the search box below.
If you don’t know the DOI or PMID, or if there are no results from the search, proceed with an ILL request.
Find Articles by DOI or PMID
DOI, or Digital Object Identifier, is a number that permanently and uniquely identifies an article on the internet. Most online articles include a DOI number or link. A DOI number or link is also included with most pre-made citations. Our search box will accept both DOI numbers and links.
PMID, or PubMed ID, is a permanent and unique identifier specifically for items in the National Library of Medicine’s PubMed collection. PMID works similarly to a DOI number.
DOI Example:
https://doi.org/10.1080/07494467.2021.1945226
PMID Example:
40759963
When you see “Library Access Options” as the only choice after making a search, that means that the Avila library likely doesn’t have it in our collection. If Library Access Options is the only linking option after you make your search, you can proceed with your ILL request.
Clicking on the Library Access Options link will take you to a new page that should display several links for further searching. There may be a link on this page to an open access version of the article, but in most cases, your best bet is ILL.
When you enter a DOI or PMID into this search box, the Avila library’s LibKey software checks DOI or PMID against the library’s entire online collection. If we have the article, LibKey provides you with a PDF or direct access through a database.
LibKey Nomad
You can get access to LibKey software on your own computer! Click on the button below to download LibKey Nomad, a free browser extension that enhances your research by connecting you to library resources. While you browse sites like Google Scholar, PubMed, or Wikipedia, it adds unobtrusive buttons that link to free PDF and online full text.
ILL Requests for articles must contain these items:
- Requester’s contact information (name, status with Avila, email)
- The ISSN of the journal
- The title of the journal
- -The title of the article
- The author or authors of the article
Please fill the form out as thoroughly as possible. If you have questions, call the Avila ILL Department at 816.501.2912 or email avilaill@avila.edu.
The ILL service is available to currently enrolled and registered Avila students, faculty, and staff.

Copyright Restrictions: The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of the copyrighted material. Libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction under certain conditions specified in the law. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be “used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research.” If a user makes a request for or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of “fair use,” that user may be liable for copyright infringement. This institution reserves the right to refuse to accept an Interlibrary Loan request if, in its judgment, the fulfillment of the order would involve violation of copyright law.
