Transcript
I’m Dr. Brian Buckler. I am professor of marketing in both the undergraduate and MBA program here at Avila. I’m also the director of undergraduate business development and I’ve been here for 24 years.
Marketing is one of the five majors in the School of Business and it’s a class that everybody has to take — for good reason. It’s valuable for all students, both majors and minors, to take. I like teaching marketing because it’s probably the funnest area of business. Students tend to get really good internships, it ideally pairs with most of the other majors if students want to double major, and marketing majors right now, with the economy being so good, usually get pretty good jobs right out of the gate.
For me, the best part about Avila is it’s a great place to work and therefore I think it’s a great place to go to school. There’s a feeling when you do visit the campus that we like our jobs and the students are happy to be here.
A unique aspect for the department or the major is the amount of flexibility that we have. For a small school, most of the business majors also have a double major or a minor, or a really great internship. And they get really good jobs when they finish here.
