This special reception recognizes President’s Circle donors and Arts at Avila patrons, thanking them for their support.

10:30-11 a.m. Heritage Day Welcome • Orscheln Memorial Chapel Lobby, Foyle Hall

Join the annual celebration of the heritage of Avila University and the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet.

This annual luncheon honors Heritage Society members who have designated a gift to Avila in their estate plans or have established a named endowed scholarship. Alumni celebrating their 50-year reunion, as well as other milestone reunion years, as well as six sisters celebrating jubilees will also be recognized.

5:30 p.m. Athletics Hall of Fame InductionClick here to register.
Athletics Hall of Fame inductees will be celebrated in front of their family, friends and other Hall of Fame members at this event. Tickets are $15 and includes a cocktail reception and dinner. The 2021 Inductees are Cindy Freeman, Dance Coach, Laura (TenEyke) Joens ’10, volleyball, Sedrick Johnson ’16, basketball and Chris Thomas, baseball.

Avila parents are invited to attend a special dinner theatre night. Enjoy a dinner buffet, including prime rib, and the play immediately following for $30.

Saturday, October 9
12 p.m. – 2 p.m. Tailgate & BBQClick here to register.
Bring the family to enjoy delicious Jack Stack Barbeque and the carnival atmosphere at this year’s tailgate, featuring Dom the Eagle, face painting, a bounce house and more. The $10 fee includes the tailgate and game. Children 12 and under are free with the purchase of an adult ticket.

1 p.m. Football Game • Zarda Family Athletic Complex
Cheer your Avila Eagles to a victory over Kansas Wesleyan. Don’t forget to wear your purple and gold!

3-5 p.m. Alumni Choir RehearsalClick here to register.
Alumni who participated in University Singers as students are invited to return to Avila to be a part of Alumni Choir, which will perform the Sunday of Homecoming Weekend.

4:30-6 p.m. Radiologic Science Alumni Reunion ReceptionClick here to register.
Radiologic Science alumni are invited back to celebrate the program’s 45 years at Avila. Enjoy drinks and light appetizers, while reconnecting with classmates and faculty members.

5-6 p.m. Alumni Reunion ReceptionClick here to register.
Alumni who are celebrating a milestone reunion year are invited to gather and reconnect, and enjoy drinks and light appetizers. Milestone years end in a “1” or “6.”

SERVING THE DEAR NEIGHBOR AT HOMECOMING

To continue the tradition set by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet to serve the dear neighbor without distinction, Avila will host a collection for items to be donated to the Feed Your Friends Avila University Food Pantry.

The Food Pantry at Avila University opened in the spring of 2020 to assist students and their families who struggle with food insecurity as we continually strive to find ways to support students and help them be successful.

The following are high need items and can be purchased online through the link below and the items will be delivered directly to campus.

  • Canned Meat (Tuna, Chicken, etc.)
  • Rice
  • Canned Fruit
  • Diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, & tomato paste
  • Canned Vegetables (besides green beans)
  • Cereal
  • Beans especially: garbanzo beans, pinto beans, & baked beans (canned or dry)
  • Pasta
  • Deodorant – Men’s and Women’s
  • Shampoo and Conditioner
  • Toothbrushes and toothpaste
  • Condiments – salad dressing, ketchup, mayo, etc.
  • Jelly
  • Cooking Oil
  • Baking and Pancake Mixes
  • Microwave meals/to-go meals
  • Peanut butter alternatives: Almond Butter, Sunflower Seed Butter, Coconut Butter, etc.
