
Throughout my twenty-five year career as a teacher in the Shawnee Mission School District, I have worked passionately and diligently to provide an exceptional educational experience for my students. Because of these efforts and accomplishments, I have received numerous awards, including the US Department of Education Presidential Scholar Most Influential Teacher Award, the Stanford Exceptional Teaching Award, and the University of Kansas Wolfe Teaching Excellence Award. Recently, I completed my doctorate in educational leadership from Baker University, earning dissertation of the year for my work on the social-emotional support systems of high school advisory programs. I served on numerous building and district committees, including our district strategic planning committee, the superintendent faculty council, and the high school curriculum council. Recently, I served on our school district’s Grow Your Own committee, developing a pathway program to build an in-house talent pool of future educators. I have approached everything in my career with commitment, transparency, integrity, and service. I have led in a way to elevate and empower all those with whom I have interacted and engaged. My CV speaks to the superior and consistent results that my attitude and approach has yielded in numerous positions at the building level and numerous capacities at the district level. My extensive experience, authentic investment, and effective leadership is an asset in my education department. I contribute positively and constructively to the culture of my program. It is an honor to work with faculty and to support students.
