Position Title: Tenure-Track Assistant Professor: Nursing

Position Available: Full-time tenure-track nursing faculty with current practice and/or teaching expertise. This is a 10 month/year position.

Responsibilities:

POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Undergraduate and Graduate admission is tasked with the implementation of a comprehensive enrollment strategy for the recruitment of undergraduate and graduate students. This effort will be guided by the university strategic plan and focused on successful implementation of the plan’s objectives and meeting the enrollment goals of the University. The Director will lead and manage the undergraduate and graduate admission staff and have direct responsibility to meet new student enrollment goals. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage and lead the undergraduate and graduate admission staff to motivate and guide purposeful action that will drive new student enrollment. With a focus on efficiencies and effectiveness of the recruitment, admissions, and enrollment process by leading and collaborating with colleagues within the department and across campus.  With a focus on customer service, guide the following elements of recruitment:
    • Individual campus visits
    • Group visits/Open Houses/ Events
    • Admission staff communication.
    • Staffing the office.
  • Successfully manage a limited recruitment territory as assigned by the AVP for Undergraduate and Graduate Admission. With guidance from the AVP, be fully engaged with marketing and communication to ensure all marketing activity is on-time, on-point and coordinated with the CRM
  • Ensure data entry and admission reports are useful in predicting outcomes and areas of improvement within the department. Represent the Enrollment Management department on various professional and university committees that focus on student success and enrollment growth.
  • With guidance from the AVP, best support the activities and priorities of all third-party vendors responsible for assisting with recruitment predictive modeling, and lead generation. All other duties as assigned.
  • Position requires frequently working irregular hours such as weekends, holidays, or evenings.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree along with 3+ years of related experience or 10 years of comparable direct experience in college admissions.
  • Requires proficiency with Microsoft Office and Word processing suite applications. Requires strong SIS, CRM, and data-integrity experience.

Preferred requirements

  • Master degree and related work experience in Undergraduate and Graduate Admissions.

Appointment Date: April 13, 2021

Responsibilities:

Coordinates, oversees, and/or performs a wide variety of support activities, secretarial services, and confidential assignments for the President of the University and the Provost of the University. Some of the major responsibilities include:

  • Serves as a primary point of contact and liaison for the President and Provost on day-to-day operational and administrative issues.
  • Supports constituent walk-ins in the President’s Office and the Academic Affairs Office and interacts with them to identify and process inquiries or schedule appointments.
  • Organizes and facilitates meetings and special events as requested for all executive staff; schedules and coordinates dates and times, venues, attendance, agendas, and facilities; takes minutes, and provides administrative support and follow-up on matters arising from meetings.
  • Primary contact for the Board of Trustees requiring communication with members and development of materials for Board of Trustees meetings and the work of their committees, as well as special events in coordination with all executive staff.

  • Composes and prepares written documentation and correspondence for both offices; screens and evaluates incoming and outgoing correspondence and prepares responses as appropriate. Reviews professional journals for industry trends, prepares article summaries.
  • Assure office equipment is in working order; initiate requests for repairs; maintain stock levels of office supplies and place order for additional, when needed.
  • Coordinate with other support personnel in the Academic Affairs Office to assure availability for answering phones and receiving students/guests to the offices.
  • Coordinate with other offices to support academic ceremonies, including graduation, sending ceremony, Convocare, and honors.

This job may require responsibilities outside the normal business hours and may include some evening and weekends.

Qualifications:

Bachelor degree; requires at least five years administrative office experience at an executive level.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Ability to make administrative and procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive, confidential issues.
  • Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart confidential information.
  • Knowledge of planning and scheduling techniques.
  • Ability to create, compose, and edit correspondence and other written materials.

Position Available Circulation Manager
Appointment Date July 1, 2021
Responsibilities Coordinates all circulation activities including the promotion and maintenance of books, reserves, journals, closed stacks, newspapers, and laptops.  Responsible for training, scheduling, and supervising: student staff, graduate assistants, and part-time evening library personnel. Will monitor and correct student, GA, and part-time staff job performance. Will monitor patron usage patterns and adjust staffing and scheduling appropriately.   Adjust staffing to improve activities and workflow.  Gather data for end-of-the-year reports.

Supervises collection and accounting of fines and fees collection at the circulation desk. Coordinates with the Business office regarding student payments.  Supervises distribution of print reserve materials and serials check-in.  Participates as a member of the library team and contributes to the development of departmental goals objectives, policies, procedures, and service standards.  Participates as a member of the Kansas City Access Committee and MOBIUS Access Groups.  Develops procedural manuals and conducts workshops to aid in training new staff members on circulation desk processes.  Assists patrons with questions and queries; provides information regarding library system policies and procedures.  Provides Database instruction to students, staff, and faculty in formal and informal settings.    Manage daily shelving activities for books, journals newspapers; supervise stack maintenance establish efficient workflow patterns in coordination with other library departments; plan and organize shifting projects; establish shelf reading schedule.  Professional development attending MOBIUS Conference training, Brick and Click, and other online training as appropriate.

Qualifications Bachelor’s degree.  5 years of experience in a library.  Familiarity in ILS iii preferred.  Experience with cataloging preferred.

Position Available: Assistant Men’s and Women’s Bowling Coach

Responsibilities:

The assistant coach works under the supervision of the head bowling coach. Individuals are responsible for assisting in the comprehensive day to day operations of the collegiate bowling program. Candidates are require to excel in communication skills, punctuality, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities:

Avila University invites applications for Coordinator of the Buchanan Initiative for Peace and Nonviolence (BIPN). This is housed within the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences.
Duties of the Coordinator include:

  • Organization of educational activities and events throughout the academic year

Position Title: Nursing Education Resource Center (NERC) & Clinical Assistant

Position Available: Full-time support nursing staff to i) Coordinate activities and resources in the Nursing Education Resource Center (NERC) while maintaining a safe and organized lab that facilitates student learning and ii) Assist the Clinical Coordinator for the setup and daily oversight of all clinical courses in the curriculum.  This is a 10.5 month/year position.

Responsibilities

As Nursing Education Resource Center (NERC) Assistant (1/2 Appointment)

  • Assist the NERC Coordinator by
    1. Set up and maintain lab supplies/equipment for all lab activities as directed by faculty.
    2. Become and remain familiar with the NERC equipment and supplies, exclusive of simulators.
    3. Facilitate practice sessions for student learning (as needed) and coordinate requests for lab scheduling.
    4. Provide orientation to lab resources, equipment, supplies and guidelines yearly to new students and faculty members.
    5. Assist faculty in assigning and supervising students skills practice/check offs
    6. Promote/Maintain a clean and orderly environment in the NERC.
    7. In collaboration with Simulation/NERC Coordinator, research options, solicit faculty input, make recommendations for and prepare orders for supplies and equipment.
    8. Maintain records of equipment acquisition, user manuals, updates, and/or repair
    9. Proctor testing and assessment processes if available.
  • Participate in nursing service assignments, including the Nursing Faculty Committee, NERC budgeting planning, strategic planning and/or desired assignments or requested by the Chair of the School of Nursing.
  • Other assignments as requested.

As Clinical Assistant (1/2 Appointment)

  • Assist the Clinical Coordinator with Clinical Placements which includes:
    • Being listed as the contact person on the MOKAN site and then maintain working relationships with the clinical sites through MOKAN.
    • Attends MOKAN meetings and summarizes information to the Chair.
    • Completes requests for clinical placements on MOKAN every February.
    • Collaborates with Clinical Coordinator for additions, changes, releases to MOKAN during the year.
    • Communicates minimum requirements to practice partners (ex. preceptor requirements, assigned only with nurse)
    • Review clinical site evaluations with Clinical Coordinator and Chair.
    • Send out capstone preference worksheets as directed by Clinical Coordinator.
  • Assist the Clinical Faculty by:
    • Review/confirm numbers of faculty needed for clinical experience (in collaboration with Clinical Coordinator).
    • Review/revise Clinical Faculty Handbook annually.
    • Assist with orientation of new clinical adjunct faculty to Avila, including use of Avila email, Canvas, and other documentation tools being used.
    • Communicates practice partner requirements to faculty (e.g., glucose meter checkoffs, computer training, etc.) and notify faculty of changes.
      • Provides clinical facility orientation requirements and dates to all clinical faculty
  • Clinical Scheduling
    • Provide appropriate dates to staff and Chair to assist in creating contracts and planning calendar for each semester (includes orientation of faculty and students at Avila and/or facilities; beginning and end dates of clinical experiences at the sites; and any post clinical meeting needs).
    • Plans and creates clinical schedules
    • Collaborates with Clinical Coordinator for placement of students.
    • Provide master copies of individual faculty group schedules for distribution at orientation.
    • Provides a calendar, or list, of students assigned to observation sites to appropriate facilities (which will include the emergency contact information for faculty assigned to the facility for the day)
    • Obtains/confirms information related to required documentation and training needed for students and faculty at clinical sites, including but not limited to: parking; name badges; computer training/access; arrival and departure times; location and contact information for observation sites.
  • Student Orientation
    • Participate in student orientation at the beginning of each semester.
    • Secure room for on campus orientation for each Practicum course orientation.
    • Arrange for required student orientation for individual clinical sites for each Practicum course.
    • Confirm access through Clinical Student for the required Clinical Orientation Competency assessment for all students and faculty.
    • Plan and coordinate metrology and any other required competencies at the beginning of each semester.
  • Documentation
    • Verify completion of documentation of qualified preceptors prior to the first day of assigned clinical
    • Confirm using Clinical Student that all necessary clinical documentation has been completed prior to the first day of the semester (includes immunizations, TB tests, competency assessments, CPR, etc.)
    • Maintains completed documentation forms (student and faculty) and ensure all documents are forwarded to clinical agencies in a timely manner.
    • Facilitate completion of clinical site evaluations by students, facilities, and faculty.
    • Compile forms and other documentation as necessary into course files on the next at the end of courses.
    • Maintain records of student and faculty absences and assigned alternative clinical assignments,
    • Maintains record of student assigned sites for each Practicum course and throughout the program.
    • Forward individual CI forms to next assigned clinical instructor.
  • Student Learning
    • Assign and track completion of all alternative clinical assignments as needed, e.g. missed clinical day assignments, make-up days, simulations, etc.
    • Assist students with metrology practices and schedule testing at the beginning of each Practicum course as directed by the clinical coordinator.
    • Organizes and implements required clinical check-off activities.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • RN, BSN
  • Current professional, undisciplined nurse
  • Currently licensed in the State of Missouri
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated computer competency (e.g., Word, Excel, Power Point, Office, MS Outlook).
  • Ability to use learning management platforms and new software as it is implemented into the program.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative manner

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in nursing or evidence of active pursuit of a Master of Science in Nursing or higher advanced nursing degree, preferred
  • Teaching and/or curricular experience
