Position Available The School of Visual and Communication Arts in the College of Professional Schools is seeking a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Communications

Responsibilities Responsibilities will include teaching a wide-variety of graduate level and upper-division undergraduate Communication courses, including Principles of Advertising, Integrated Brand Management, Strategic Presentations in a Digital Environment, and graduate-level classes in one’s discipline area.
Qualifications Minimum requirements: PhD (or ABD) in Communications or related field.

Qualified candidates will be expected to apply dynamic teaching methods to current course offerings and will develop curriculum in advertising content strategies.

Ideal candidates will have a strong background in visual storytelling, and high-level involvement in content creation, design, tactics, campaign deployment, measurement, and full multi-channel media expertise.

Preferred candidates would have relevant work experience in strategic communications including social media, mobile and digital content creation, publication and evaluation. Background in Leadership and Entrepreneurship is a plus.

Successful candidates should also be committed to contributing to a climate via teaching, committee engagements, community work, and/or research that supports a diverse study body, serves first-generation college students, and contributes to equity and social justice.

Position Available Visiting Assistant Professor in Theatre Design and Technology
Appointment Date January 10, 2022
Responsibilities Temporary full time position from January 10 – June 30, 2022 with the possibility of an extension.

Teach 6 credit hours in the spring semester.

Design and assist/oversee student designs and build of 2 mainstage productions per semester.

Serves as Technical Director in the day-to-day operations of the Scenic/Props, Electrical, and Sound for Goppert Performing Arts Center. Will ensure superior production values, safety, and smooth technical operations in all venues.

Maintain all logistical elements of operating and maintaining Goppert Performing Arts Center, including the mainstage, black box, and  music hall, and smaller rehearsal spaces. This includes maintaining a budget and maintenance of all equipment in the theatres and scene shops and overseeing external rental of the PAC spaces.

Supervise students and student employees including applying and enforcing safe working practices. Effectively mentor, supervise, and coordinate the work of students and others.

Serve as Technical Supervisor and client liaison for PAC shows, events, work calls and rehearsals as assigned. Responsible for backstage safety, communicate with Front of House personnel, communicate with outside crews, maintain and protect house equipment, and enforce house rules.

Support client production staff members by providing access to and specialized knowledge of equipment and facilities and keeping PAC equipment operating efficiently.

Ensure rigging system inspections, automation system upkeep and upgrades, and safety systems.

Communicate well with others and maintain confidentiality.

Qualifications The successful candidate will possess a commitment to teach and work in a university environment and a desire to engage both undergraduate students and the community.

Required Qualifications

  • MFA in Theatre Design and Technology
  • Experience teaching design and technical theatre at the university level with a record of excellence in teaching. Scenic, lighting, and sound are all required areas
  •  of competency.
  • Experience supervising student projects and meeting production deadlines.
  • Experience managing performing arts spaces.
  • The successful candidate will demonstrate a spirit of collegiality.  Positive collaborative interactions with diverse populations—performance faculty as well as other faculty in musical theatre, music, and dance,  faculty/staff/students from across Avila University, and the public—is essential.

Position Available Director – Institute for Professional Studies (Full-time Tenure-Track Faculty Position)
Appointment Date Spring 2022
Responsibilities The primary role of this position is to manage all aspects of the Institute for Professional Studies.

  • Oversee the collaboration of curricular oversight for all programs/courses delivered under the Institute model
  • Hire, onboard, coach, and evaluate all Institute adjunct faculty members
  • Develop and implement course schedules that support the delivery of the Institute programs
  • Ensure assessment best practices are in place for all courses and programs
  • Direct professional advising staff to deliver concierge-level student support to the Institute students

Position Available Director of Donor Relations
Appointment Date 10/15/2021
Responsibilities Position Summary

The Director of Donor Relations is a mid-level position that plays a critical role in retaining and increasing revenue from existing mid-level donors to support Avila’s mission, identifying and qualifying donors to become major donors and stewarding donors. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and enthusiastic development professional to be a part of an emerging program that will provide personal attention to donors giving between $250-$2,500 with a goal of increasing their giving and engagement. The Director of Donor Relations will work collaboratively with the entire advancement team to develop, implement and assess strategies to increase giving and engagement across affinity groups and geographical areas.

 

Principle Responsibilities:

In collaboration with Advancement leadership, the Director of Donor Relations identifies, puts into place and evaluates an annual plan for a multi-segment mid-level donor program designed to meet the fundraising needs of Avila University.

Personally manage a portfolio of ~500 donors giving $250 – $2,500 to maximize annual revenue.

Participate in and play a coordinating role in meetings focused on plans for cultivation, stewardship and solicitation of mid-level and major donors.

Builds relationships with mid-level donors via phone calls, in-person visits, personalized email communications, ongoing written contact, and events.

Compile and create monthly e-newsletters to various constituent groups with the purpose of building engagement.

Develop outreach plans that demonstrate appreciation, recognition, and engagement of mid-level donors and prospects.

Develop and run outreach programs (i.e., monthly giving and infinity groups) to engage mid-level donors.

Promote and engage donors in Avila’s planned giving program.

Analyze mid-level donor trends throughout the year to assess results and interprets data to recommend and implement appropriate changes to targets or adjustments in strategies.

Work with leadership to forecast mid-level program revenue and expenses.

Serve as subject matter expert on mid-level donor management and keeps abreast of industry best-practices.

Contribute to team effort by accomplishing other assignments and special tasks as requested.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications

Education:       Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree and CFRE certification preferred.

Experience:     Minimum two to five years proven experience in securing annual, major and/or planned gifts and meeting fundraising goals.

Skills:     Must have strong interpersonal skills; pay close attention to detail; manage complex tasks and meet deadlines; and have the ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team. Must be self-motivated and disciplined to achieve goals. Exceptional customer service.

Other:   Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends as needed; proficiency with Raiser’s Edge as well as Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint a plus. Ability to complete your own administrative tasks. Some travel may be required.

Position Available: COVID-19 Response Specialist

Responsibilities:

Position Summary

Under general supervision of the Director of Human Resources and the Associate VP for Student Development and Success, and working closely with COVID Response Team and its members, the incumbent independently performs administrative, technical and analytical work in support of the university’s COVID-19 Response Program.

In addition to helping implement the University’s response to the ongoing pandemic, the incumbent is responsible for tracking developments related to the pandemic, tracking and maintaining records related to vaccinations, weekly required testing, exposures, and faculty, staff and student quarantines, and reporting results to stakeholders. The incumbent will research applicable state and federal laws, technical letters, executive orders, policies, procedures, and best practices. Principal Responsibilities:

  1. Manage and track COVID-19 cases and exposures for all university personnel and students.
  2. Provide contact tracing for individuals who tested positive, or have been identified as exposed, gather information and provide guidance for required quarantine and isolation periods per CDC guidance. These duties may fall outside of normal working hours.
  3. Monitor weekly test results for unvaccinated faculty and staff.
  4. Run COVID-19 reports in compliance with local, state, and federal reporting and tracking requirements.
  5. Work with the Office of Marketing and Communications to draft campus notices regarding COVID-19
  6. Maintain confidential COVID-19 records and information.
  7. Provide updated COVID-19 information for website with current information and required notices.

Responsibilities Operate an active writing center that provides writing support across academic disciplines to students of varying abilities, including systemically disadvantaged student populations such as English language learners, first-generation college students, and students from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Currently, a part-time position is available. The Campus Safety Department operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This current position provides staffing coverage during evenings and during weekends; may be needed to rotate to different shifts for vacations and University events. Security patrols are 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Qualifications Minimum Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age or older and authorized to work in the United States
  • Must have a high school diploma or GED, or at least 10 years of verifiable employment history
  • 1 year of experience in related field/or bachelor’s degree in field.
  • Knowledge of crime prevention, liability and risk management as they apply to the safety and security fields, in particular to the needs of a university setting.
