Sydney Renwick, M.S.E., CTEL

Adjunct Instructor, Psychology

I entered La Verne College, now the University of La Verne, as a pre-med student, fully intending to become a pediatrician. Little did I know that this would begin a journey working with children and adolescents and ended 46 years later in June, 2019. It was the most rewarding, challenging, often time frustrating, but fulfilling adventure. The path included stops in very well-to-do environments, and very financially and socially impoverished ones. I took on the roles of teacher, counselor, and administrator where major responsibilities involved interacting with children and adolescents (not to mention their families) who had language, learning, behavior, and social challenges. This time and its experiences have led me to the doors of Avila and the School of Psychology. I am delighted to be here and be a part of a university that cares so much about its staff and its students.
