Lisa Gioia

Lisa A. Gioia, CPA is a member of the Board of Trustees at Avila University. She received a four-year free scholarship from Avila College and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting, French and International Management from Avila College (now University) in 1981. In 1981, Ms. Gioia began her career at Laventhol and Horwath, where she advanced to an audit manager. In 1990, she transitioned to being a self-employed CPA with not-for-profit organizations for auditing, accounting and taxes. She has been a CPA for 45 years. She also was a leader with the Foundation for Accounting Education and the Center for Professional Education and as a trainer with the Pew Charitable Trusts. She also taught as an adjunct faculty member at Eastern University and served for 10 years as a senior fellow and teacher at the Midwest Center for Nonprofit Leadership. She also graduated in 2007 as a Master of Public Administration in Nonprofit Management from the University of Missouri – Kansas City. She also served in numerous governance roles, including Chair, President, Treasurer, Finance Committee Chair, Committee Chair, and board member for more than 25 nonprofit organizations. Ms. Gioia retired in 2024 and has been committed to volunteering for charities and nonprofits and helping her local Catholic Church. Serving since 2024.
