  • NSCA-ERP Approval

    December 20, 2017

    The Avila Kinesiology curriculum was re-approved (December 2017) as meeting the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) criteria recommended for acceptance into their Strength and Conditioning Education Recognition Program (ERP).  Gerald Larson, PhD, RCEP, CSCS serves as the ERP Program Director, and Brian Ciolek, M.S., SCCC, CSCS*D is the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist sponsor for the ERP.

  • Kinesiology Lab

    The Kinesiology Lab supports the undergraduate and graduate (pending) Kinesiology curriculum.  Research and programming emphasize corrective exercise, fitness training, and golf performance. NEW programming available to the public will be announced during January 2018.

  • Brian Ciolek - Serving Students through Dual Roles

    December 20, 2017

    Brian Ciolek, M.S., SCCC, CSCS,*D, RSCC serves as a full-time 1) faculty member in the Avila Kinesiology department and 2) as the Director of Strength and Conditioning for the Athletic Department. Brian (Coach "C") earned his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from University of Central Missouri in 2005 and Master of Science in Exercise Science from California University of Pennsylvania in 2008.  Since, approximately 65% of Kinesiology students are student-athletes the opportunity to work with Coach "C" in the weightroom and classroom. This helps first year students better adjust to college, and helps students connect Kinesiology content to practical applications.

Avila University is seeking comments from the public about the University in preparation for its periodic evaluation by its regional accrediting agency. The University will host a visit February 26-27, 2018 with a team representing the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). Avila University has been accredited by HLC since 1946. The team will review the institution’s ongoing ability to meet HLC’s Criteria for Accreditation.

The public is invited to submit comments regarding the University to the following address:
