Mission. Values. Goals.
Our Mission
The mission of Avila University Career Services is to equip students and alumni to develop, demonstrate, and communicate career readiness through meaningful experiences, practical preparation, and verified evidence of what they can do. Rooted in Avila’s Catholic mission and the legacy of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, we understand career readiness as part of formation, helping students prepare for work, lifelong learning, and meaningful contribution in the local and global community.
Our Values
Career Services is grounded in Avila’s commitment to the worth, dignity, and potential of each person. We believe career development should be reachable for every student, including students whose lives are complex, busy, or uncertain. Our work centers on three department values: Identity, Belonging, and Purpose.
Identity means students can name their strengths, values, interests, and direction.
Belonging means students can build relationships, find support, and connect with professional communities.
Purpose means students can connect learning and work to contribution, service, and continued growth.
Our Goals
- Help students explore who they are, what they value, and where they want to grow.
- Support students in building resumes, interviews, portfolios, and professional communication skills.
- Connect students with internships, employment, graduate school preparation, alumni, and employer partners.
- Provide career preparation that is practical, inclusive, and connected to students’ real lives.
- Help students demonstrate career readiness through evidence aligned with Avila core competencies and employer expectations.
- Prepare students to speak clearly about themselves, show what they can do, and step into work with direction and confidence.
