Kathleen Thompson Brown, CSJA is a prominent Kansas City civic leader, philanthropist, and long-serving trustee of Avila University since 2019. She is a member of the influential Thompson family of Kansas City. Her late father, Byron G. Thompson, was the long-time chairman and founder of Country Club Bank. The Thompson family has a generationally deep relationship with Avila University, supporting major campus expansions and establishing endowed student scholarships. Her sister was the namesake of the Amy Thompson Run for Brain Injury, a major Kansas City community event for decades which Kate and her siblings actively championed. Her bother Mark, also served on the Board of Trustees from 2009-2021. She has served on the Avila University Board of Trustees from (????) She served as the Honorary Chair for the Annual Steer Dinner & Auction. Kate spends equal time in Kansas City and Florida.
