LoMonaco to Lead Eagle Golf Programs

August 8, 2013

Kansas City, MO – Avila University Athletic Director Gary Gallup has announced that Vinnie LoMonaco will lead the Avila Men’s and Women’s Golf programs effective immediately. LoMonaco replaces Matt Clinger who left the program in July.

LoMonaco has deep Kansas City roots, attending St. Pius X High School and later attending William Jewell College. At both Pius and William Jewell, LoMonaco featured on the varsity team all four years.

While at St. Pius X, located on the North side of Kansas City, LoMonaco led his team to back to back MSHSAA Class 3 Golf Championships his junior and senior year. In the 2005 state championships, LoMonaco shot a team low 160 to lead the warriors to a fourth place finish.

At William Jewell, LoMonaco was coached by Bill Skoulaut and placed in the top 10 in multiple tournaments for the Cardinals

LoMonaco currently serves as the Assistant Golf Professional at Oakwood Country Club, and has served on the pro staffs at Radisson Summit (Panama City, Panama), Windermere Country Club (Windermere, FL), Paradise Point (Smithville, MO), and Claycrest Golf Club (Liberty, MO).

Graduating from the Golf Academy of America in April of 2012, LoMonaco is currently on path to achieve his teaching certificate, tournament operations certificate, general management certificate, and player’s credential ribbon.

After spending 18 months in Florida, LoMonaco is excited to be back saying “there’s no place like Kansas City”. “I’m very excited to get started with both programs and pass my knowledge of the game on to the student-athletes here at Avila”.

While golf is a spring sport at the NAIA level, the Eagles will once again play a light fall schedule and will hit the links for the first time under LoMonaco in late September.

LoMonaco obtained his bachelor’s degree in Business in 2010 and currently resides in Gladston, Missouri.
