Responsibilities
The Safety Officer will have a passion for serving students, faculty and staff and integrity in ensuring a safe campus environment.  Major responsibilities include patrolling facility or man post as instructed and serve as a general security presence and visible deterrent to crime and campus policy violations; detect suspicious activities and watch for criminal acts or campus policy violations at or near assigned post which may be a threat to the property, students or employees on campus; locking and unlocking campus buildings; report all incidents, accidents or medical emergencies; respond to emergencies, such as medical issues and community threats such as fire alarms and by following emergency response procedures.

Currently, a part-time position is available. The Campus Safety Department operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. This current position provides staffing coverage during evenings and during weekends; may be needed to rotate to different shifts for vacations and University events. Security patrols are 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older and authorized to work in the United States

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED, or at least 10 years of verifiable employment history

  • 1 year of experience in related field/or bachelor’s degree in field.

  • Knowledge of crime prevention, liability and risk management as they apply to the safety and security fields, in particular to the needs of a university setting.

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing for the purpose of public interaction and report writing and an interest in being in collaborative service to a university community.

  • Personable and friendly demeanor along with the skills necessary to relate well with all types of people.

  • Basic computer skills.

  • Neat and professional appearance along with the ability to maintain a punctual timeliness in reporting to assigned/scheduled duties.

  • Position requires clear and accurate reporting (written and verbal), sitting and standing for long periods of time, lifting and maneuvering barricades, walking and, during an emergency situation, may require running.

  • First Aid and CPR certification courses may be required.

Preferred Requirements (in addition to above)

  • Experience in security, preferably in a University/College environment.

  • Experience with, or a working understanding of, fire codes or hazardous materials.

  • EMT training a plus.

  • Customer service experience a plus.

Responsibilities
The Advancement Database Coordinator is responsible for managing the alumni and donor database and all gift processing, as well as coordinating data queries and reports. The Advancement Database Coordinator will also assist with ongoing donor stewardship and oversee daily office tasks. Although database-driven, this role is often the first point of contact for constituents so exceptional customer service is essential, as they will communicate with alumni and donors in person, via phone and email.

Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the library director, the Archivist is charged with following professional archival standards, principles and best practices in managing all aspects of the Martha Smith Archives and Research Center. Located in the Hooley-Bundschu Library and Learning Commons, the Martha Smith, CSJ, Ph.D. Archives & Research Center's mission is to collect, arrange, preserve, and make accessible the permanent records of the University as well as rare and unique collections that support the University's administration, teaching, research, and service. The Archives is currently comprised of three collecting areas – the Women Religious Special Collections, the CSJ Heritage Center Archives, and the Avila University Archives.

CORE DUTIES:

  • Creates, revises, and maintains documentation of all archival policies, practices, and procedures.

  • Strategic planning for, prioritizing of, and overseeing the archives and its projects.

  • Serves as primary contact for reference and public service activities in the Archives.

  • Promotes use of collections through classroom instruction, outreach, public presentations, tours, exhibits, and publications.

  • Accessions, appraises, and inventories newly acquired materials, and performs necessary preservation or physical preparation, or supervises student workers in these tasks.

  • Prepares, organizes, and processes archives, manuscripts, and photographic collections.

  • Catalogs materials, creates finding aids, inventories, records, and metadata using DACS, Archives Space, and Omeka, or trains and directs others in doing so.

  • Identifies and prioritizes projects and materials for digitation

  • Oversees patron use of materials in the archive’s reading room.

  • Manages archival equipment, supplies, and budget resources.

  • Supervises student assistants and occasional interns on assigned projects.

  • Participates as a team member in the library to assist patrons with research, reference questions and performs circulation functions as needed; attends library meetings and serves on library committees.

  • Provides service to the University through active participation on committees, task forces, and meetings.

  • Maintains skills and knowledge of current developments in archives and the profession through active membership in professional organizations, reading professional literature, and attending educational programs, workshops or conferences.

Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

  • Master's degree from an ALA-accredited library school or equivalent accredited degree, with formal training in archival theory and practice.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • One to two years’ professional experience in an archive, library, or other cultural heritage institution.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of metadata and encoding standards, such as DACS, EAD, Dublin Core, MARC, AACR2 and RDA, as well as controlled vocabularies, such as LCNAF and LCSH.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of archival collection management systems such as ArchivesSpace (or another Archival content management system such as AtoM, Archivist’s Toolkit, or Archon).

  • Fluency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Acrobat Professional.

  • Familiarity with archival digitization standards, document/photograph scanners, and digital audio recorders.

  • Ability to balance and complete multiple concurrent projects, set priorities, and work creatively in a rapidly changing environment.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with patrons, donors, and co-workers, as well as independently as a lone arranger.

  • Excellent written and oral Communication skills.

  • Work environment requires sitting for long periods of time at a computer terminal and requires the ability to perform tasks associated with retrieval of archival materials including moving/lifting up to 40 lbs.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Donor relations, collection solicitation and/or gift management

  • Experience implementing new technologies in a special collections environment

  • Knowledge of intellectual property issues related to archives, libraries, and special collections and copyright issues associated with print and digital technologies

  • Experience with Innovative Interfaces’ Millennium ILS Software

Responsibilities

Coordinates NERC activities and resources, maintains the lab in a safe and organized manner that facilitates student learning, and the following:

  1. Assist NERC/Simulation Coordinator in assigning, and supervising student’s skills practice/check-offs and simulation learning experiences.
  2. Motivate students to think critically in the learning environment.
  3. Promote/maintain a clean and orderly environment in the NERC.
  4. Setup and clean up for all scheduled lab and/or simulations using guidelines provided by the NERC/Simulation Coordinator. This requires arriving early for all scheduled simulation activities to make sure all equipment is working correctly, and all needed supplies are available.
  5. Maintain equipment and facilitate repairs.
  6. Provide orientation to lab resources and lab guidelines yearly to new students and faculty members.
  7. Assist NERC/Simulation Coordinator with preparation of simulation (new or updated) scenarios, paperwork and evaluations to meet established learning outcomes.
  8. Assist in preparation of simulation schedule and skills practice/checkoff schedule as needed.
  9. Actively participate in simulation activities, demonstrating proficiency in the operation and maintenance of the simulation equipment.
  10. Maintain an inventory of lab supplies/equipment.
  11. Research options, solicit faculty input, make recommendations for, and prepare orders for supplies and equipment.
  12. Provide input for budget related to lab supplies and equipment annually to the SON Chair.
  13. Proctor testing and assessment processes if available
  14. Participate in Nursing Faculty Committee, as desired and/or requested by the Chair or full-time faculty member.
  15. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

  • RN, BSN with a current professional, undisciplined nurse license in Missouri

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills

  • Computer proficiency in MS Office Software

  • Ability to learn learning management platforms and new software as it is implemented into the program.

  • Ability to work in a collaborative manner

  • Knowledge of or ability to learn simulation strategies and implementation.

Preferred

  • Master’s degree in nursing or evidence of active pursuit of a Master of Science in Nursing or higher advanced nursing degree, preferred

Avila University invites nominations and applications for the position of Dean of the College of Professional Schools.  Preferred start for this position is January 1, 2020 or as negotiated with the successful candidate.

Opportunity Overview
The Dean serves as the academic and administrative leader of the College of Professional Schools to advocate for the mission, purpose, and support of the programs of the College, including business, education, communication and art.  The College is organized in three Schools (School of Business, School of Education, and the School of Visual and Communication Arts), each with an operational chair reporting to the Dean, and the Avila Institute for Professional Studies (adult and online formats of discipline programs from across the university).   The College is one of three colleges of the university, including the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences and the College of Science and Health. 

This position reports directly to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and works collaboratively with the deans and senior administrators across the institution to provide effective leadership.  The Dean exercises responsibility over all internal and external activities impacting the College, implementation of the various School strategic plans, and financial management of the College budget lines.  The Dean should market the College effectively to enhance enrollment, and develop and maintain partnerships with external business and education associates that further the strategic directions of the College in line with the strategic direction of the University. In collaboration with the Office of Advancement and the Office of Academic Affairs, he/she will work to identify priorities, to secure philanthropic support for teaching, research, program development, professional development, facilities (maintaining and developing), scholarships, and other needs. 

Responsibilities
Academic Leadership and Management:

  • In collaboration with the Chairs, oversee budgets and financial projections, maintain effective academic advising, and facilitate the ongoing evaluation of curricula for the College’s various programs. Additionally the Dean will ensure compliance with the accreditation and licensure requirements and regulations for college programs.

  • Promote shared governance within the College and foster transparency in decision-making and respect for opinions and voices.

  • Foster collaboration between the Schools and the Institute within the College

  • Collaborate with other deans to achieve the academic mission of the University and work across disciplines to create and/or sustain programs. Additionally, he/she will demonstrate team building and exercise creativity, vision, and an entrepreneurial spirit in achieving goals.

Faculty and Staff Support and Oversight:

  • Promote excellence in teaching, research and scholarship, and engaged service.

  • Ensure faculty receive mentoring and have opportunities for leadership, scholarship, and professional development.

  • Provide oversight and support of faculty with regard to recruitment/hiring, reappointment, tenure, and promotion and tenure.

  • Provide oversight and management of staff in all programs.

External Partnerships and Support:

  • Build partnerships in the external community working collaboratively with regional education, business, and communication/art organizations.

  • Play a major leadership role in procuring resources for the College’s current and future programs

Qualifications, Experience, and Attributes
The successful applicant will have an earned doctoral degree or terminal degree from an accredited university in a discipline represented in one of the three Schools in the College of Professional Schools (business, education, communication or art). 

He/she will have a record of excellence in teaching, scholarship, and research that warrants appointment as an associate or full professor. Previous successful administrative leadership, including management of budgets, personnel, curriculum, innovative teaching, and leadership of undergraduate, graduate, adult and online programs is preferred.  This is a 12-month position with faculty status and rank.

This position calls for an individual who will support the mission and values of Avila University and embody these in the operation and leadership of the College.  The strong candidate will have the ability to foster collegiality and cooperation with the faculty. He/she will also have a record of successful collaboration within the business and education community as well as experience in resource development. Specific qualifications include familiarity with best practices in enhancing student success, retention, persistence, and graduation. The well-qualified candidate will have an understanding of both undergraduate and graduate education, including professional degree programs in the College.  Experience with institutional and program accreditation and licensure is needed. The College will welcome a Dean who has a commitment to educational quality and to developing and implementing innovative academic programming that delivers traditional, off-site, virtual and partnered initiatives.

Salary:  Consistent weekly hours Monday through Friday as set by the GA. 9 credit hours of tuition remission for 330 work hours per semester. Some weekend/evening hours may be needed based on events.
