Position Title:  Adult & Graduate Admissions Office Assistant

Supervisor:  Emma Carter: emma.carter@avila.edu – Adult & Graduate Admissions

Job Description:

Be a valued part of the Adult and Grad Admissions Team by providing administrative support to the Director of Adult and Grad Admissions as well as the Admissions Reps. Assist in the daily operations of recruiting for adult and grad programs by performing clerical duties and by representing Avila at recruiting events.  Clerical duties include texting/calling perspective students, processing U.S. mail, making copies and scans of documents, data entry, and delivering documents to various departments on campus and other duties as assigned. Engage with perspective students on campus visits, tours, and open houses to help facilitate a smooth, welcoming, and position campus experience.

Qualifications/Skills Needed:

Must be detail orientated, highly accurate, and able to work independently. Customer service, collaboration, and phone experience desired.  Knowledge of Excel, Power Point, and CRM systems a plus.

Desired Schedule/Approximate Hours per Week:

About 8 hours a week and we work around your student schedule. Main Hours would be anytime between 9am-6pm and events happen on some week day evening.

Position Title: – IT Services – Student Assistant (Learning Commons)

Job Description:

Provide first level assistance and support related to computer issues for staff, students & faculty. Answer helpdesk phones calls and assign tickets to IT personnel. Run diagnostic programs to resolve problems. Assist in resolving Wi-Fi issues and printing issues.

Qualifications/Skills Needed:

Computer skills, English speaking, Wi-Fi set- up, quick learner, Windows 10 knowledge

Desired Schedule/Approximate Hours per Week:

Approx. 6 hours/week. High need times are 9AM-2PM Monday – Thursday also evening support as well.

Position Title:

Athletics Game Day/Fitness Center Work Study

Supervisor, Department:

Brian Ciolek

Job Description:

Primary duties are to work athletics games/competitions which includes concessions, ticket sales, and other duties assigned by the game day supervisor. Games are mostly on nights and weekends. Usually only assigned 1-2 games a week. If other hours are available then other duties will be to supervise the fitness center when it is open during evening hours during the week. Duties include cleaning, picking up equipment, and ensuring patrons follow posted fitness center policies.

Qualifications/Skills Needed:

CPR/AED Certification needed. Athletic department can help facilitate this. Need to be able to lift +60lbs.

Desired Schedule/Approximate Hours per Week:

7-8hrs a week. Game day operations hours are schedule first. Nights and weekends.

Position Title:

Writing Center Peer Tutor

Job Description:

The Writing Center is seeking peer writing tutors to work one-on-one with other Avila students on their writing. A writing tutor welcomes Avila students to the Writing Center, guides a tutoring session based on the student’s writing, and enables the student to become a better writer going forward. This position demands excellent communication skills, the ability to explain and demonstrate a range of writing concepts, strong interpersonal skills, and ability to connect with diverse students. Peer tutors must be able to commit to a consistent weekly schedule, be self-directed, and have a strong attention to detail. Tutoring experience and a high grade in an Avila English course recommended. Training in peer tutoring provided.

Qualifications/Skills Needed:

Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, digital), the ability to explain writing concepts (e.g. grammatical rules, thesis writing, essay organization), strong interpersonal skills, and ability to make connections with diverse students

Desired Schedule/Approximate Hours per Week:

4 hours per week / tutor selects a consistent schedule at the beginning of the semester

Positions Open:  1

Student Engagement and Success Assistant

Assist in the development of programming related to the First Year Experience and the overall retention of undergraduate students.  Participate in the Common Reading Program campus committee. Assist with compiling report data from the Academic Progress Reports and Mid-Term Grades.  Comfortable working with confidential information.

Second or third year Avila student preferred but not required, experience working with Microsoft Excel, approximately 5 hours/week, flexible hours.

Position Title: Undergraduate Research Assistance

Job Description:

The school of Computer Science and Mathematics is seeking a student research assistance to help math faculty with a research project pertaining to efficacy of co-requisite models for college math classes. The primary duties of this position include literature review search, cleaning data sets and preparing them for analysis, performing basic data analysis and reporting results in written report. Hired student will have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of statistical methodology used to analyze numerical and qualitative data and will be able to present the result in Student Scholar Day and other math education related conferences.

Qualifications/Skills Needed:

Experience working with Microsoft Excel, understanding of basic statistics and excellent communication skills (digital, oral, and writing). Knowledge of a statistical software such as Minitab of SPSS is preferred but not required.

Desired Schedule/Approximate Hours per Week:

Approximately 5 hours per week / student RA selects a consistent schedule that works with their class and other commitments.

 

Position Title:   Career Services Student Assistance

Job Description:

Be a valued part of the Career Services Team by providing support to the Career Services Coordinator such as,

  • Assist in the daily operations of answering emails, processing U.S. mail, taking and making phone calls.
  • Maintain Career Closet donations, needs, and appointments.
  • Create and publish social media and marketing material to promote Career Services and engage the student body and community.
  • Engage with students and employers for on campus recruitments, events, and workshops to help facilitate an engaging campus experience.
  • Clerical duties include making copies and scans of documents, data entry, material organization, and delivering documents to various departments on campus and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Skills Needed:

Must be detail orientated, creative, and able to work independently. Eager and efficient learner. Customer service, collaboration, and phone experience desired.  Knowledge of Microsoft, Adobe, and Google applications is encouraged.
