Responsibilities  

The Events Coordinator is responsible for planning and coordinating alumni, parent, and donor relationship events to support, encourage, and enhance their engagement with Avila University. Major responsibilities include:

  • Lead staff person in implementation of all details of events including, Homecoming, Steer Dinner, Donor BBQ, President’s Circle, Truman Lecture Series, Fundraising Summit, Scholarship Luncheon, Alumni Association sponsored events and activities, among others.
  • Work closely with Senior Director of Development to manage Steer Dinner logistics/hotel event planning activities. Lead auction item solicitation, pre-event organization, display and post event follow up. Assist in recruitment of alumni to attend, support, and organize tables. Recruit and train student volunteers. Serve as lead staff person for registrations and night of registration/check-in area, and event volunteer management activities.
  • Event Planning and Production for all Advancement Office events.

Occasional evening and some weekend work required.

Qualifications  

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree or related experience.

Skills: Must have superior interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills plus the ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team. Excellent writing skills a must. Creativity a plus.

Other: Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint a plus. Experience: Three years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Proficiency with Auction Tracker, BidPal, and Raisers Edge a plus. Experience in a fund raising atmosphere or higher education preferred.

Great Western Dining Service at Avila University is currently seeking cooks, dishwashers and catering servers.

Responsibilities  

Primary job duties for cooks will include preparing meals for the unit and catering functions, maintaining sanitation standards, assisting with concessions and serving for catering functions. Must have flexibility to work mornings, evenings and weekends.

Primary job duties for dishwashers will include washing dishes, pots & pans and maintaining dish area sanitation standards, assisting with stock and sanitation of unit, coolers and storerooms. Must have flexibility to work mornings, evenings and weekends.

Primary job for catering servers will include set up, serving and clean-up of functions. Will assist in dining hall and dish room work as needed. Must have flexibility to work mornings, evenings and weekends.

Qualifications  

Candidates must be customer focused and must have experience in food service. Successful candidates must be able to read, write and follow verbal and written instructions. Job duties require standing, lifting and carrying items of 25-50 lbs. Position vary in hours but most positions will get between 20-37 hours per week. Candidates must be willing to help in other departments/areas if needed. You must be able to pass a criminal and sexual offender registry background report. A Kansas City Food Handlers card will be required.
