Professional librarian position available in our newly renovated Learning Commons. The learning commons has evolved from a combination library and computer lab into a full-service learning, research and project space.

Major responsibilities include: Accepts and process faculty requests to purchase materials, orders materials, and tracks acquisitions budget, and catalogs materials. Serves as library automation manager in conjunctions with MOBIUS staff. Supervises weekend and evening students Participates in staff rotation at the circulation desk. Assists archivist in original cataloging of special collections. Works with library director to develop assessment measures for collections use.

EXPERIENCE:

Some experience in academic library setting preferred.

Major responsibilities include:

  • Provide outreach, assessment and advising services for program participants
  • Develop and maintain relationships with university faculty and staff to ensure achievement of program objectives and activities
  • Monitor all program expenditures and provide a monthly budget to the TRIO Director
  • Represent the program to constituent groups at Avila University

Responsibilities  

The Graduate Assistant for Student Activities involves substantial direct involvement with students in various capacities. The Graduate Assistant (GA) will assist with planning, promoting, implementing, and evaluating major student activity events, leadership development programming, educational programming initiatives, and special campus celebrations.

Qualifications  

The successful candidate for this position will possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree, and must be admitted to and enrolled in a graduate program at Avila University. The candidate must maintain at minimum a 3.0 GPA. A commitment to student development, higher education, creativity, vision, passion and compassion are imperative. Prior experience in student activities is preferred.

Salary

Great Western Dining Service at Avila University is currently seeking cooks, dishwashers and catering servers.

Responsibilities  

Primary job duties for cooks will include preparing meals for the unit and catering functions, maintaining sanitation standards, assisting with concessions and serving for catering functions. Must have flexibility to work mornings, evenings and weekends.

Primary job duties for dishwashers will include washing dishes, pots & pans and maintaining dish area sanitation standards, assisting with stock and sanitation of unit, coolers and storerooms. Must have flexibility to work mornings, evenings and weekends.

Primary job for catering servers will include set up, serving and clean-up of functions. Will assist in dining hall and dish room work as needed. Must have flexibility to work mornings, evenings and weekends.

Qualifications  

Candidates must be customer focused and must have experience in food service. Successful candidates must be able to read, write and follow verbal and written instructions. Job duties require standing, lifting and carrying items of 25-50 lbs. Position vary in hours but most positions will get between 20-37 hours per week. Candidates must be willing to help in other departments/areas if needed. You must be able to pass a criminal and sexual offender registry background report. A Kansas City Food Handlers card will be required.
