Health Insurance Information for International Students
All full-time students on an F-1 Visa at Avila University are REQUIRED to take Avila’s health insurance. Students will be charged for health insurance on their Avila bill.
Cost on Avila bill (6 month rate):
August 1, 2018 - January 31, 2019 $780
February 1, 2019 - July 31, 2019 $780
Students in OPT can enroll for insurance at the same rate.
This insurance is REQUIRED for all full-time international students (F-1 Visa), even for students doing OPT. No other insurance including insurance from home country will be accepted.
Students: If you are sick or injured, you can visit St. Joseph’s Care Clinic at Avila University and see our family nurse practitioner, Lorna McCartney, FNP-C in the Hodes Center. She accepts Avila's health insurance. You may also see this list for doctors' offices close to Avila.
Making an Appointment
*Before you go, print off your insurance card here: print health insurance card. Also the co-pay (what you need to pay) is about $20, so please bring that with you.
1. Go to her office in the Hodes Center (you will need to fill out the paperwork on the clipboard)
2. Call her number: 816-501-3668 (someone will help you make an appointment over the phone)

*She is available Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM until 4:30 PM (She is usually at lunch from 1:00-2:00 PM).
