International Student Health Insurance

Health Insurance Information for International Students

All full-time students on an F-1 Visa at Avila University are REQUIRED to take Avila’s health insurance. Students will be charged for health insurance on their Avila bill.

Cost on Avila bill (6 month rate):
August 1, 2018 - January 31, 2019          $780
February 1, 2019 - July 31, 2019             $780

Students in OPT can enroll for insurance at the same rate.

This insurance is REQUIRED for all full-time international students (F-1 Visa), even for students doing OPT. No other insurance including insurance from home country will be accepted.

Students: If you are sick or injured, you can visit St. Joseph’s Care Clinic at Avila University and see our family nurse practitioner in the Hodes Center. The nurse accepts Avila's health insurance. You may also see this list for doctors' offices close to Avila.

Making an Appointment

*Before you go, print off your insurance card here: print health insurance card. Also the co-pay (what you need to pay) is about $20, so please bring that with you.

1. Go to the nurse's office in the Hodes Center (you will need to fill out the paperwork on the clipboard)

2. Call the nurse's number: 816-501-3668 (someone will help you make an appointment over the phone)

3. Schedule it online (only if you have already seen the nurse once and she has your information):

*She is available Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM until 4:30 PM (She is usually at lunch from 1:00-2:00 PM).

View the Student Plan Summary and Frequently Asked Questions - Health costs in the United States are very expensive.  Health insurance helps pay for many of these expenses.  Avila requires insurance coverage for your protection.

Please can visit the plan's site, where you can also print your health insurance card.
