Using art and creativity to serve others, Avila’s art therapy concentration focuses on the use of art media, the creative art process, and patient/client responses to assist individuals with their development, abilities, personality, interests, concerns, and conflicts. Art Therapy courses investigate history, theory, and methods in both a classroom and studio situation. “My professors structured their classes to be more project-based and provided opportunities to work with local companies. We met with the clients to discover their needs and vision about a project, and it was on us to implement what we found out. I ended up making a promotional video for a local coffee shop.”
