KANSAS CITY, Mo - - The NAIA Division I women's basketball tournament committee sure didn't do the Avila women's basketball team any favors Wednesday night.
The Cinderella Eagles, which qualified for their first-ever national tournament by upsetting second-seeded Lindenwood in the semifinals and Graceland in the final of the Heart of America Athletic Conference tournament, drew Union (Tenn.), the No. 1-ranked team in the country the entire season, as its first round opponent.
Avila, 20-12, is slated to face 31-1 Union at 8 p.m. March 16 at Oman Arena in Jackson, Tenn. The national tournament runs through March 22.
