Mission 100 is our hope and desire to get at least 100 people to commit to doing 100 hours of service in our 100th year.

Mission 100 seeks students, faculty, staff, alumni, board members, donors and friends, to accept this challenge as we observe 100 years of serving the dear neighbor without distinction.

Service for the Mission 100 challenge is to be done between January 1 and December 31, 2016.

To register for Mission 100, fill out the form on the right.

You will receive a Mission 100 packet that will include a Mission 100 t-shirt, and information about how to keep track of your service and where to share your stories and pictures. Those registering from home or other parts of the country/world will receive their packets in the mail.

For more information contact Dave Armstrong, the Director of University Mission and Ministry, David.armstrong@avila.edu.

Where should I do my service?

Feel free to complete your service with any agencies or organizations that you would like to work with. For those who live in Kansas City, you will receive a list of agencies in the Kansas City area that are always looking for volunteers.

What kinds of work are considered community service?

Any work you do with your community that is volunteer and not remunerated in any way, can be considered service. Our aim is to be in relationship with communities. Anything from coaching children in sports to working on boards for non-profit organizations can be considered service for the purpose of Mission 100.

How will I be expected to keep track of my service?

It is our hope that you will keep a log of the hours you serve for your personal record to keep you on track to complete this challenge. We will not ask for this record though you are welcome to share it with us and we would be glad to have it. What we do ask is that you let us know when you have completed the challenge of serving 100 hours. You may finish the challenge at any time in the year. The only thing we will ask from you is to help us share some pictures and stories through the year about the service we are doing all over the community, and for alums and others, all over the country.

How can I share my stories and pictures?

You will be given instructions about how to do this through e-mail. We will set up a Facebook and Twitter account so that you can share pictures and stories immediately. We will have a website dedicated to Mission 100.

What happens when I complete the challenge?

You will be added to the list of those who have completed the challenge on our website and invited to a Mission 100 celebration. But don’t stop there. If you complete more than 100 hours of service we will add those to the total number of hours completed within this challenge.

What happens if I cannot complete the challenge for any reason?

You will receive our gratitude for your effort and be encouraged to continue to serve the dear neighbor without distinction.
