Carol McLean began working at Avila University in 2015 as a site supervisor for the School of Education and then began teaching as an adjunct in 2016. Carol taught in the Shawnee Mission School District for forty-one years. She taught junior high for six years, taught high school English and served as the department chair for twenty-five years, and served as the district K-12 Language Arts Curriculum Specialist for ten years. After retiring from the Shawnee Mission School District in 2013, she worked as an independent educational consultant, providing staff development and working with schools across Kansas to develop and integrate school improvement plans. She also worked as a consultant for the College Board for eight years, providing PreAP and AP staff development.
