Honor Society Celebrates 12 Inductees

The Iota Pi Chapter of Beta Beta Beta, the national biological honor society, at Avila University recently held its 17th annual induction ceremony in the Whitfield Conference Center.

Opening remarks at the ceremony were made by Drs. Stephen Daggett, Katie Burgess, Greg Fitch, Lary Sullivan, and Marie-Joan Harris, CSJ. The guest speaker for the event was Dr. Tammy Platt, who gave a talk entitled “Non-Traditional Paths in Biology.” Also present at the event were current tri-Beta officers: Austin Armstrong (president), Dayton Antley (vice president), Jordan Burns (secretary) and Casper Lee (treasurer).

The inducted members are biology and prehealth majors taking three or more biology courses, maintaining a 3.0 GPA in these and other biology courses. The newly inducted members are Andrew Austin, Lauren Babcock, Michal Hudson, Jackie Jiminez, Ben Koerner, Taylor Lind, Kelsey McConnell, Lexi Mers, Viviana Ortiz, Michelle Pace, Haley Padgett and Mirna Yacoub. Friends and family of the inductees were invited to join in celebration of this honor.
