Avila VisCom Students Grab Top Honors at International AVA Awards

(March 6, 2017) KANSAS CITY, MO AVA Digital Awards recently announced winners for the 2017 international awards competition. There were 2,500 entries from throughout the United States, Canada, and 16 other countries.

Senior Brianna Peralta was honored with a gold award for her fast-draw animated Public Service Announcement addressing the horrors of college students over posting on social media entitled “The Final Takedown – Delete or Regret”.  Peralta’s project can be seen on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZRZgpqq7bpw&feature=youtu.be

Senior Trey Bales’ work also focused upon the need for students to take responsibility for their health while in college.  As a student and basketball player, Bales knows that we people are always in need of more sleep.  His motion graphics campaign entitled “ A ‘Lil More Shut-Eye is All We Need” certainly delivered this important message. Bales’ project can be seen on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vH1rYGtyp1w&feature=youtu.be

J. Anthony Snorgrass, Ph.D. is professor of communications, advertising, branding and strategic media for Avila University, and he is delighted with both Peralta and Bales. “Brianna and Trey have shown a remarkable capacity to deliver clear, informative, and entertaining messages throughout their work in this and other classes.  I’m obviously quite proud of what they have been able to accomplish especially when competing with the pros in the industry.”

AVA Digital Awards is sponsored and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals  (AMCP). The international organization consists of several thousand production, marketing, communication, advertising, public relations and freelance professionals.
