Avila University Names New Human Resources Director

(June 1, 2018) KANSAS CITY, MO – Avila University has announced the hiring of Susan L. Mathern, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, MBA, as director of human resources. Mathern assumes the position after the retirement of longtime director Janet McManus.

Mathern comes to Avila from Watlow Electric Manufacturing Company in Columbia, Missouri, where she served as senior human resource specialist since 2011. Prior to Watlow Electric, Mathern served as vice president and human resources manager for Landmark Bank, also in Columbia, from 2004 – 2011.

“We are very pleased to have Susie with us at Avila,” Paul Toler, vice president of finance said. “She is an esteemed HR professional and displays all of the values of Avila’s mission.”
