    Avila University to Host Panel Discussion and Film Screening on the Opioid Epidemic

    In the last five years, opioid overdose deaths have quadrupled in the Kansas City metro area. In an attempt to counteract the growing concern, the Center for Digital Advocacy at Avila University will host a panel discussion on the opioid epidemic on February 20 in the Dallavis Center.

    Event has been cancelled and rescheduled for March 6.

    Avila Department of Theatre to Present "These Shining Lives"

    Play Tells the Story of Radiation Poisoning and Workers’ Rights in the Early 20th Century

    Avila University’s department of theatre will present the gripping drama “These Shining Lives” by playwright Melanie Marnich. The play runs February 22 – 25 on the Bill and Jean Buchanan Stage in Avila’s Goppert Theatre.

    Avila University Steer Dinner and Auction Raises More Than $1 Million for Student Scholarships

    For the third year in a row, more than $1 million was raised at Avila’s 42nd annual Steer Dinner and Auction. First held in 1977, this year’s event took place on February 3rd at the Kansas City Marriott Downtown Muehlebach Tower.

    Avila's Master of Science in Counseling Psychology Program Receives Accreditation

    Avila University has been granted accreditation from The Masters in Psychology and Counseling Accreditation Council (MPCAC) in Latham, New York through 2022. Avila is one of only two universities accredited in the state of Missouri.

    Avila University Sees Uptick in Spring Transfer Enrollment

    With traditional undergraduate classes starting this week, Avila University is seeing a 45% increase in transfer and first-year student enrollments for Spring 2018. This increase is largely attributed to the university's move to a new, lower tuition model which includes the cost of books and campus fees.

    Nearly 400 undergraduate students at Avila University earned dean's list distinction for the fall 2017 semester. 

    The students represent 66 cities in Missouri, 13 other states and territories, and 8 other countries.

    The Board of Commissioners of the International Accreditation Council for Business Education (IACBE) announced that, at its meeting in Orlando, Florida, on December 5-7, 2017, Avila University was granted reaffirmation of accreditation of the business and management programs offered through its School of Business.
