Justice, Community & Spirituality

Social Justice Team

The Social Justice team invites us to walk in solidarity with others and recognize the social concerns in our world.  At Avila, we understand our responsibility to help those around us through service, and we recognize that in order to truly understand another person’s struggle, our eyes must be opened and our hearts transformed.  Social Justice team will implement activities to build awareness and promote responsible action regarding local and global issues.  They are also national members of the Catholic Relief Services Ambassador program.

Spirituality

Spirituality ministry invites us to deepen a relationship with God through spiritual and formative activities.  As a Catholic institution, we offer opportunities to attend Mass twice a week, schedule Reconciliation and empower students to celebrate their faith through involvement and leadership.  We also offer a welcoming environment for all faith traditions and make efforts to celebrate and honor all beliefs that promote the greater good.  Spirituality ministry leaders plan weekly food and fellowship nights, coordinate the student-led Mass on Sunday’s, facilitate small faith communities, and head the planning of retreats.

Music Ministry

Music ministry invites us to participate in prayer and worship.  Music ministers are responsible for choosing, rehearsing and leading music for our Sunday liturgies.  Occasionally, music ministry students assist in the planning of other spiritual programs on campus.
