Assistant Coach Megan Morgan begins her third year as an assistant coach at Avila University this season. Megan brings several years of experience as a cheerleader to the program including high school, all-star, intercollegiate, and competitive cheer. Megan has been cheering for 15 years and competing nationally for 8 years. Megan brings her passion of cheering into coaching.
Megan graduated in 2006 from Raymore Peculiar High school in Raymore, MO. At Ray-Pec, Megan was awarded the Cheerleader of the Year award her junior and senior year, and the MVP her senior year. Megan then started her college career at Avila University in 2006.
During Megan's years the team grew into a very accomplished and established program. While cheering, Megan helped her team win conference in 2007, 2008, 2009, and 2010. The Avila cheerleading team won Conference Champions in 2008 along with the Dance Team and Mascot. In 2010, Megan finished her cheerleading career with the highest place Avila University has received at UCA Collegiate Nationals, 4th in the nation. Megan will graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Educational Studies.
Megan is married to Austin Speer, a former Avila Baseball player, and plans to have their first child in February of 2013. Megan is excited for the upcoming year, and looks forward to coaching the team to a winning and successful season.
