Right now, your donation can go twice as far to support Avila University nursing students and strengthen Avila’s renowned nursing program. A challenge grant from a local anonymous nonprofit organization will match, dollar-for-dollar, all donations for simulation equipment AND scholarships for nursing students between now and December 15, 2020. If you are able to help, your support will have a noticeable and long-lasting impact on Avila’s School of Nursing.
Simulation Equipment: Critical Care Simulation Unit & Pediatric Manikin
Simulation experience is a necessary component of a high-quality nursing education and preparation. Simulation equipment allows nursing students to practice in evolving situations that require critical thinking and action, without the consequences that come from real life. This experience ensures nursing students are immediately ready for the frontlines after graduation.
Scholarships: Direct support of $76,000 to nursing students
More than 80% of Avila students are low-income and/ or first-generation college students. More than anything else, finances keep these students from being able to graduate and make important contributions to the field. Your support will help make their dreams come true. In Fall 2020, 99 students will be enrolled in the nursing program and another 80 students on campus will be working toward that goal.
“Students come to Avila to study nursing because of the strong legacy that exists,” said nursing chair Dr. Janet Reagor. “My faculty and I are working hard to ensure our students have the tools, resources and critical skills needed to become strong leaders in nursing. Taking advantage of these matching gifts will make an immediate to their learning.”
