Avila's School of Education and Hickman Mills School District Create Grow Your Own Partnership

In fall 2017, the Avila University School of Education and Hickman Mills School District launched the Grow Your Own partnership. The initiative is a state-wide initiative to increase the number of diverse teachers in the field. The goal of this program is that high school students interested in becoming teachers will continue their educational preparation at Avila and then return to their districts upon graduation to join teaching staffs in their home communities. Avila's School of Education Receives National Accreditation

Avila University's School of Education is proud to announce that it received national accreditation from the Council for the Accreditation of Education Programs (CAEP). The accreditation was granted for a period of seven years with no areas for improvement or weaknesses.

Avila University is seeking comments from the public about the University in preparation for its periodic evaluation by its regional accrediting agency. The University will host a visit February 26-27, 2018 with a team representing the Higher Learning Commission (HLC). Avila University has been accredited by HLC since 1946. The team will review the institution’s ongoing ability to meet HLC’s Criteria for Accreditation.

The public is invited to submit comments regarding the University to the following address:

The public may also submit comments on HLC’s website at www.hlcommission.org/comment.

Comments must address substantive matters related to the quality of the institution or its academic programs. Comments must be in writing.
