Outstanding MBA Student 2019
Kansas City, MO
With a career shift from finance into accounting, I needed a graduate program that would provide enough credit hours in the field to allow me to pursue my CPA license once it was completed. Avila’s MBA program set itself apart with its accounting emphasis option, allowing me to further develop my overall business education while obtaining the required classes to meet my very specific career needs. The faculty were extremely knowledgeable, and they were more than supportive of the challenges facing someone whose studies are in addition to full-time employment. The classroom discussions, case studies, team projects and simulations throughout the program were critical in developing a better understanding of the business world, and I look forward to applying much of what I learned directly to my current role at work.
Currently, I am the Treasurer in the accounting department for two non-profit mission organizations, Avant Ministries and Crossworld, in the Northland of Kansas City. My graduate degree from Avila will allow me to continue to grow in my responsibilities within our organizations and help us be more effective for the people we serve.
