Grips a Few Awards in Joplin
The
Talon Media Network (TMN), Avila University's student run media,
was honored with multiple recognitions at the recent 2008 Missouri
College Media Association (MCMA) convention held in Joplin, Mo.
The Talon Media Network was awarded the highest number of awards
it has received in the recent history of its participation in this
prestigious state-wide competition. Competing in Division
3, The TMN won 7 awards in individual categories and for the first
time received awards in writing, design, illustration and advertising
in the same year. Chadd Rivera was honored by winning both
the first and second place in the entertainment cartoon category.
“We were especially delighted by the number and breadth of the awards
because it recognizes the depth of our staff's diverse talents,”
said Kayle Walker, editor in chief for The Talon News Magazine.
“We have strong writers, editors, photographers and designers. We
also are very proud of Erin Miller and Leonard Casey, whose win
in advertising design has bolstered the Talon Advertising Group's
emergence in its inaugural year. Chadd Rivera, Director of
the Talon Advertising Group said, “This is a well-deserved honor
for TAG and it represents a signal of what can be accomplished in
the future.”
