Recycling on Campus

On behalf of the Environmental Action Comittee, we are excited to announce the beginning of paper product recycling for the Avila community.  We are in partnership with Abitibi Recycling and the large recycling bin is located next to Schlumpberger facility; it is bright yellow and green, you can't miss it!

The following items may be placed in the bin:

newspapers, magazines, shopping catalogs, junk mail, office and school paper and white envelopes(without the address windows).

The following items are NOTaccepted:

cardboard, cereal/soda cartons, food wrap/containers, tissue products, phone books, plastic and glass.

Small, cardboard boxes labeled with the Abitibi logo have been placed around campus, mostly in copy rooms and common office areas.  For those areas that do not yet have boxes, we are working on purchasing more boxes to better cover the campus and we thank you for your patience.

The Campus Ministry student team has graciously volunteered to empty the boxes; the MORE we recycle the MORE money they earn to support their programming.

During the next two weeks, the team assigned to empty the box in your area will contact the representative that has been previously identified and introduce themselves accordingly.  Jennifer Lee is in charge of coordinating the teams and welcomes you to contact her at: lee113613@avila.edu.  For right now, the student teams intend to empty the boxes once a week.  Should you notice the box in your area is filling quicker than expected; you can either contact your team or take the initiative to empty it as well.

Thank you for your participation and feel free to contribute items from your personal household as well!
