The Best of Kansas City

Avila Communication students, sharing the spotlight with professionals from top KC metro companies, were honored with Awards of Merit at the new KC/IABC Quill's Gala on May 2, 2013.

Aimee Adams, Junior, was honored for "The Glitter Run." The project, created in Linda Strelluf's Promotional Writing class to benefit breast cancer research, was selected by Paradise Park in Lee's Summit, Missouri for implementation.  Her teammate was Jaclyn Wacha.  Seniors, Kelby Phelps and Austin Stockard, took home the honors on behalf of team mates Jordan Byrd, Cleveland Neal, Jessica Ferrell, and Trey Swager.  Their entry which was created as part of their Corporate Script Writing class, was "Fight Club: Advocacy Program for Bullied Youth."

Avila's final award of the evening was for "Veterans' Voices," a media plan created for and adopted by the Hospitalized Veterans' Writing Project.  Austin Stockard Accepted the award for the members of his Corporate Communication Seminar's team, Quiana Haney, Josh Grimes, Emilee Bickleman, Christina Parisse, James Chapman, and Peter Kondracki.
