Students in the AR 345 Typography II course recently participated in the electronic poster competition as part of the 2013 IEEE Professional Communication Conference. The event was hosted by the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada. The conference them Beyond Borders: Communicating Globally explored how communication technologies shape, alter and reinvent global communication. Student poster submissions were prompted to address the role of communication as it applies to the visual illustration and representation of factual data. The work of three Avila graphic design juniors was chosen as best in the undergraduate category. Congratulations to Sean Allen, Robyn Shaw and Alexis Thomson on their success. This is the second year in a row for Avila awards in this competition.
