The
Upward Bound program academic year component consists of weekly
tutoring at the target schools and two Saturday Study Sessions
a month at Avila University. The weekly tutoring
component is designed to help students with their school work in
core subject areas and foster good study habits
Weekly tutoring
sessions are held at Grandview and Ruskin High schools on Tuesday
and Thursday respectively. Tutoring sessions are also held at Avila
University campus on Wednesday. The sessions on Wednesday are by
appointment. Students are required to make appointments for Wednesday
tutoring sessions. Appointments must be made a week in advance.
All weekly tutoring sessions are held from 2.35 to 4:05 pm (Grandview)
or 2:30-4:00 (Ruskin). (For more details, refer to the student

Saturday
study sessions are held twice a month. They are designed to provide
an opportunity for participants to get extra help with their work.
They also provide an opportunity for non target participants and
those students who are excused from weekly tutoring sessions to
get assistance with their course work. Students who have any grade
below a C or a GPA that is below 2.25 are required to attend Saturday
study sessions in addition to their weekly tutoring. (For more details,

Cultural and educational
activities are held throughout the year. These activities are designed
for experiential learning and to help the student develop into a
well-rounded individual. All students are required to participate
in two activities a semester. . Transportation is not provided for
students to and from Avila University.
