A Norwegian housewife in the 1870s, Nora Helmer has dedicated her life to her husband Torvald’s success and to preserving his reputation at all costs—all to the erosion of her own sense of self, as she begins to discover. Stifled by the closing walls of a controlling marriage that threatens to shatter once a scandal comes to light, Nora must decide if the appearance of perfection is one she is willing to sacrifice everything, even herself, to save. The issues raised in Ibsen’s provocative work are as poignant today as they were more than a century ago.
