The NUA is a non-profit organization that specializes in providing research-based strategies to low achieving schools that have contacted them for instructional training and intervention. The NUA is based at Teachers College, Columbia University in New York. It also has a partnership with Stanford University’s School Redesign Network to share research-based knowledge about transforming secondary schools and school districts. Dr. Levin will be mentoring teachers in three secondary schools in West Minneapolis (WMEP) in NUA pedagogy and research based instruction that focuses on a systematic approach to enhancing thinking skills. At Avila, Dr. Levin teaches graduate and undergraduate education classes, such as Advanced Curriculum, Educational Foundations, and Race, Religion and Reform in American Education with Dr. Carol Coburn. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in history and political science from Luther College in Iowa; a Master’s degree in Intercultural Studies with an emphasis in African Cultures from Governors State University in Illinois; an Education Specialist Degree in Secondary School Administration from the University of Missouri - Kansas City; and a Doctorate of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Kansas. |
