In order for a social work student to finish their degree they are required to complete research on the effectiveness of their social work interventions and then present the results for evaluation at the Social Work Colloquium, an annual event held each spring by the department.  This year's Best Poster Award was presented to senior Dereik Domerese.  Dereik is pictured below with Dr. Counts (far left) who served as the evaluator for the event, and Rebecca Gillam, LMSW, Assistant Director of Field Experience at Avila, who is the instructor for the Social Work Capstone course where the projects are completed.

Karen Stricker, left, and Sara Barlett, right, discuss their research with audience members prior to their formal presentations.
