Liz Rowden 2011 Recipient
Liz Rowden (BSW May 2011) is the first student in Avila's
Social Work department to be chosen as the recipient of the
Outstanding Social Work Student award. The faculty in the
department recently established this award to acknowledge and honor the
truly exceptional student scholar who's leadership and academic performance
are consistently exemplary throughout their academic career.
Liz is from Westphalia, Missouri, a small town southeast of Jefferson City.
She was a double major in Social Work and Criminology & Justice Studies.
Liz became interested in social work because she was looking for a field where
she could work hands-on with people who needed help.
Liz states "I wanted to be the voice for people who needed it in their life."
Liz plans on getting her Masters in Social Work degree at the University of Missouri, Columbia.
In the future she would like to get a job in the child welfare arena, specifically working
with one of Missouri's family drug courts.
