Intruder in a Residence Hall or in another Building
  1. Secure the immediate area. Lock or barricade the door, if able.
  2. Call 911 from any cell phone or 9-911 from a campus phone.
  3. Do not sound the fire alarm.
  4. Cover windows or openings that have a direct line of sight into the hallway.

Intruder in an open area such as a lounge, hallway, or on the Grounds

  1. Run away from the threat if you can, as fast as you can. Do not run in a straight line.
  2. Put something between you and the assailant (vehicles, bushes, trees, etc.).
  3. Join others in a room that can be locked.
  4. Call 911 from any cell phone or 9-911 from any campus phone once you're in a safe location.
