The interdisciplinary Religious Studies & Philosophy Major trains students to be critical and independent in their thinking as well as centered on larger human purposes for which we work and interact with others. In an age overwhelmingly centered on technological progress, efficient and convenient outcomes, and material satisfaction of desires, focusing on the individual's spiritual and intellectual life provides a foundation and meaningful context for your life in our global community.

Women & Spirit Exhibit
Dr. Carol Coburn, professor of Religious Studies, served as an historian and archivist on the advisory board for Women & Spirit: Catholic Sisters in America, a national project sponsored by the Leadership Conference of Women Religious. Women & Spirit features, "the untold stories of the innovative, action-oriented women who played a significant role in shaping the nation's social and cultural landscape." This exhibit (to be temporarily housed this year at the Smithsonian Institute - Washington) is currently touring across the U.S. See Dr. Coburn showcased at www.womenandspirit.org.
