Avila University English majors will participate in the annual Senior Colloquium December 9, 2005, from 9:30am-Noon. Avila’s English program features a heavy emphasis on writing and research that culminates with a semester long research project presented at the Senior Colloquium. Students select a topic and are guided in shaping their research for formal presentation. This year’s Colloquium features a wide variety of topics. They are: Prolific and Accomplished: Zora Neale Hurston; “They’re heeeeeeere”: An Evolution of Ghostly Morality; Rosamede’s Language: Misogyny and the Perpetuation of Female Stereotypes in “As You Like It”; Nothing in This Book Is True: “Cats Cradle” and Vonnegut’s Exposure of Cold War Mythology; The Black Panthers and Amiri Baraka: An Exploration of the Ideology and Literature of the 1960’s Black Power Movement. The Presentations will begin at 9:30 am on December 9, 2005, in the Goppert Theatre Lobby. Refreshments will be provided. |
