KANSAS CITY, Mo - - The kinesiology program at Avila University recently hosted a USA Weightlifting Level I-Sports Performance Coach certification course. Thirty-three people participated in the course, including students from Avila’s KN 280: Sports Performance class.
People attended the course from as far away as Texas, Oklahoma, Iowa and Nebraska in addition to Missouri and Kansas. According to Gerald Larson, Ph.D., chair of the Kinesiology Department at Avila, Avila students did a great job and held their own with professionals in the field both in the classroom and weight room.
Upon completing the class and taking the certification exam, all 19 Avila students passed, earning certification. Below is a list of those local students certified:
