KANSAS CITY, Mo - - One of the many improvements to the Avila University campus will become reality for students and staff in early August when world-renowned sandwich shop, Subway, opens an on-campus location adjacent to the refurbished Whitfield Center lobby.
A tentative opening date has been scheduled for Aug. 19, according to Stacey Harrison, franchise owner and operator.
Harrison, who has been in business with Subway for 17 years and currently owns one other store at 151st Street and Antioch in Overland Park, Kan., said she plans on operating her newest franchise from 7 a.m.-10 p.m. daily, seven days a week. The location will feature a full menu, including coffee and breakfast offerings.
She also said she is working on several deals for Avila students that include discounts with student identification cards and declining balance cards.
"We'll also have the full array of $5 subs," Harrison said.
Harrison also is taking applications for positions at the new location. Interested parties can go to www.subway.com and download an employment application.
"I'm looking very forward to finding some great students to work here at this location," she said.
Harrison added, "One of the reasons I decided to do this is that my brother has a Subway at a similar-size school in Alabama, and it's doing well. There are a lot of nerves and work in getting this started. It's a whole new experience, but I'm getting really excited because now I have some applications coming in."
