Avila film professor Ben Meade will serve as curator of an outdoor movie screening event this Saturday night, May 7, as part of America: Now and Here, part of a traveling series of programs that presents a cross-disciplinary experience in visual art, poetry, music, theater and film.

Meade will curate the first half of American Shorts: Outdoor Movie Night, scheduled for 8-11 p.m. Saturday at Leedy-Voulkos, 2012 Baltimore, Kansas City, Mo. The program will kick off a month-long celebration of American cinema and feature an eclectic mix of films by some of Kansas City's most established and up-and-coming talent.

The program, which is free to the public, is presented in partnership with the Film Commission of Greater Kansas City and CinemaKC.
