Eligible students can receive minimum of $10,000 in assistance per year
September 22, 2011
KANSAS CITY, Mo - - Since opening in 1916 as the College of St. Teresa, Avila University has been an institution of higher education steeped in the Catholic faith and traditions. Now, in these difficult economic times, Avila is making an unprecedented commitment to helping students become the best version of themselves.
To demonstrate its commitment to Catholic education, beginning in January, 2012, Avila is proud to announce the start of a new tradition – the Avila University Guarantee. Catholic high school graduates who attend Avila beginning their freshman year will receive a minimum of $10,000 in scholarship per year.
“While we’ve always welcomed students of any faith or background, we at Avila University have always held our Catholic roots close to heart,” said Ron Slepitza, Ph.D., president. “In these difficult economic times, with state and federal assistance shrinking, we felt it was the right time to further embrace those roots and not only extend further assistance to Catholic high school graduates, but to guarantee that assistance over the entire course of a student’s education. We’re very excited to launch this Catholic initiative.”
Avila University believes this fantastic, new guarantee can help more and more students through their educational journeys as they begin to realize their full potential as we open doors for them in school and in life.
