The Avila University School of Nursing recently received the maximum 10-year accreditation from the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. The commission is officially recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education as a national accreditation agency. It marks the second consecutive period that the School has received the 10-year accreditation from CCNE, which assesses and identifies nursing programs that engage in effective educational practices. As a voluntary, self-regulatory process, CCNE accreditation supports and encourages self-assessment by nursing programs. According to Susan Fetsch, dean and professor in the School of Nursing, CCNE staff shared that reviewers at the board level were highly complimentary of Avila’s self-study and, through both that and an on-site campus visit by CCNE evaluators in March, ruled that the School had met or exceeded all standards, and there were no compliance concerns. “We are delighted that the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education has recognized Avila’s nursing program for the quality of its curriculum and faculty and our contribution to student learning,” Fetsch said. “The program of nursing strives to continue our tradition of excellence and is pleased CCNE has confidence in that excellence.” ### About Avila University
