Avila University Receives Major Gift From Trustee
  Kansas City, MO
March 16, 2010
Avila University today announced that the university has received a major gift from civic leaders Jeanne and Tom Olofson that will be used to install landmark campus signage along Wornall Road.

“We thank Jeanne and Tom Olofson for showing their continued support of Avila,” said Ron Slepitza, Ph.D., president of Avila University. “Their generous gift will allow the university to erect beautiful new signage at the northwest corner of our campus. Designed with intricate stonework and a landscaped terrace, the signage will be visible from all directions.”

The Olofsons are long-time supporters of the university. Through their generosity, Avila completed a new $1 million dollar gateway to the campus in 2008, complete with fountains and a multi-purpose plaza.

“We are pleased to be a part of the many exciting changes happening at Avila,” said Jeanne Olofson. “As an Avila alum and a member of Avila’s board of trustees, I know how important higher education is to the future of our community. Tom and I want to do our part to support Avila and its students. It is such a wonderful institution, and we hope the new signage will help raise the profile of this outstanding university.”
