Please join Avila University when it welcomes composer, conductor and National Public Radio personality Rob Kapilow and his special guest Gilles Vonsattel to the Goppert Theater stage as part of the Kansas City Friends of Chamber Music’s “What Makes It Great?” series.
Composer, conductor and National Public Radio star Rob Kapilow electrifies his audience with the rare power to illuminate music’s most profound and provocative secrets. Characterized by his unique ability to create “aha” moments for his audiences and collaborators — whatever their level of musical sophistication — Kapilow’s work brings music into people’s lives in a vivid, fresh way. He opens ears to new musical experiences and helps people listen actively as equal participants in the concert-going experience.
Joining Kapilow is guess artist and winner of the 2008 Avery Fisher Career Grant, Swiss-born American pianist
Gilles Vonsattel. Vonsattel began touring after capturing the top prize at the prestigious 2002 Naumburg International Piano Competition and has since concertized across the United States, as well as in Europe and Asia. He also performs as a member of Lincoln Center’s prestigious Chamber Music Society Two.
