Avila Professor appointed to the Unified Government Ethics Commission
Avila University professor J. Anthony Snorgrass has been appointed to the Unified Government Ethics Commission to serve on the Ethics commission and Ad Hoc Ethics Commission Appointment Panel. Kansas District Attorney Jerome Gorman said, “The new members of the Ethics Commission will serve our community well. They have proven their dedication and interest in Kansas City, Kansas through their collective community activism.
Snorgrass is an assistant professor of communication in the School of Visual and Communication Arts at Avila University. He received a bachelor of arts from the University of Kansas, a masters of public affairs from Ohio State University, and is a Ph.D. candidate at Walden University. |

Avila School of Psychology to be Awarded Scholastic Honor
Avila University is the recipient of the 2007 Scholastic Partner Award from the Child Abuse Prevention Association. The consortium granted this honor to Avila for the contributions of Avila professors Dr. Gina Staves and Dr. Stephen Sirridge to many of Kansas City local and Missouri state Child Abuse Prevention Associations. Avila was awarded the honor at the annual Child Abuse Prevention Association meeting and awards reception. |

Avila Alum a Champion of Unique Talent
Avila communication alum Josh Nolen, ‘06 has been deemed the Kansas City Rock, Paper, Scissors’ Champion! Josh competed in the Kansas City tournament and cut, covered, and hammered his way to victory on March 29th. Josh will compete in the National Competition in May in Las Vegas, Nv. |

Avila Communication Students Win Big!
The Kansas City chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators hosted its Bronze Quill Awards on Friday, May 4th at their annual gala. Ten communication students received awards. Three students were awarded the Bronze Quill Award, the highest award given by the organization, for a project called "Robbin' Fools Blind." These students are Michael B. Rollen, Lauren McCarthy and Katie Feierabend. The 2007 Bronze Quill Merit Award winners were Chadd Rivera, Kayle Walker, Dani Archer, Emily Hoskins, Chey Ann Volkman, Megan Carnes, Brandon Boles and Eudora Savage. Avila was the only school to be awarded the Bronze Quill. |
