Eagle athletics celebrates historic year with banquet
Kansas City, MO – The first annual Avila University Athletics Banquet took place April 30 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church just down the road from the campus of Avila University. The banquet honored all Eagle athletes with freshmen receiving participation certificates, sophomores a stitched letter, juniors an Eagles athletic watch, and seniors receiving an Eagles trophy. 2012 Immigration Conference to be held this weekend at Avila

Members of professor Francis Origanti’s Human Behavior in the Social Environment class visited the Topeka Women’s Correctional Facility with the purpose of gaining knowledge of the prison environment, a few of the details of prison life and the psyche of some of the prisoners currently detained at the facility. Avila and MCC partner on reverse transfer agreement
Avila University and Metropolitan Community College (MCC) have entered into a five-year agreement that will allow students who transfer from MCC to Avila prior to achieving their associate’s degree the opportunity to complete that degree while working toward a bachelor’s degree at Avila.

S. Marie Joan Harris selected as 'influential woman' by KC Business magazine
With this honor, S. Marie, who in 2011 celebrated her golden jubilee as a Sister of St. Joseph and her 41st year working at Avila, will be featured in the March issue of the magazine. She’ll also attend a private meet-and-greet with fellow members of the class in February and receive her award during a cocktail reception in March.
