Avila
Singers
Avila Singers is a non-auditioned ensemble. All Avila personnel (students, faculty, and alumni) are welcome to join this ensemble. The choir meets on Mondays from 4 to 6 p.m.
University Singers
University Singers is the touring choral ensemble of Avila University. The auditioned ensemble performs challenging, eclectic literature both on and off campus. All Avila students are welcome to audition.
Audition Information
Auditions are held each April for the coming academic year. New First-Year Students and Transfer Students may audition during Orientation in August. Students auditioning for the ensemble should be prepared to match pitch and sight-read. A prepared solo is strongly recommended, but not required.
Tour Information
University Singers will tour throughout the Midwest. There are also tours
that take place abroad. Most recently, the University Singers toured Italy,
performing in venues such as St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City and St.
Mark’s Cathedral in Venice. University Singers were also invited to perform
in Carnegie Hall on Sunday, January 20, 2005. The group was one of five choirs
performing Mozart's
Vesperae solennes de Confessore conducted by
Dr. Susan Marchant. This incredible honor was a result of the commitment and
dedication of Avila's choral program.
